I do not need to tap holes very often. Therefore it is great to buy a tap with the proper sized drill bit (no error possible selecting the right bit). I was tapping aluminum sheet so there was not much challenge for the tool. All holes in the parts were cleanly cut and screwed together easily.
I labeled and taped the pair together ready for when I may need them again.

The chuck appears to be of high quality, though I have not had a chance to use it yet. I purchased it because I want to drill and tap fixture hold downs on my 1" thick welding table. The annular cutters work well for through bolts, but are the wrong drill sizes for taps. My intent is the drill first with the annular cutters to the closest undersize then run one or more drills using this chuck to get the proper size hole required for the tap.

Makita LXT drills and drivers a hard to beat. I contracted for years and use to use mostly DeWalt and Bosch. Four years ago it was time to replace my Bosch 18v NiCd drill and impact. I was pretty set on just getting another Bosch kit, but found a good deal on the Makita LXT combo. With moderately hard use, it has held up without issue every since. When I found this driver on sale for $99, I just couldn't pass.

This drill/driver provides adequate torque (300lb vs the typical 400-450lb of a comparable 18v/20v drill/driver), and it's sufficient for the homeowner who plans to use it quite sparingly. Despite B&D being not considered seriously among contractors, they actually build decent stuff- after all, they're the parent company of DeWalt. It's a decent value, but there's one glaring problem: It only includes ONE battery, which means your projects are forced to a screeching halt while you wait out the recharge period (unless you happen to have multiple drills, like me). This can be extremely frustrating.

This drill would be a good choice if you already own compatible BD batteries for other devices. If not, you may want to consider buying something with two batteries for just a few bucks more, like the Dewalt 18v driver for $99 or so.

Certainly tapped out the threads just fine and my car's riding with a shock attached thanks to clearing threads with these units. I'd have been happier to pay 1/2 the price for just one, or perhaps this price for a mixture of sizes, but I ordered, they showed up and my car's back on the road.

These are made in U.S.A., so much better quality than Chinese crap sold by DeWalt, Bosch and Milwaukee these days. If used correctly these should last a while (using oil/paste and correct techniques). Having said that, I once went through the whole set in less than a week due to not using cutting oil and not having proper tapping wrenches (my department was just starting out). After acquiring a new set I made sure to do things right this time and the set is still with me.

If you are only looking for a few particular sizes - I suggest taking a look at Guhring. Those are German made, they blow these out of the water, but are priced accordingly.

I bought this item for the total package. I already have firestorm drill with dual speeds and a removable chuck. It is a fantastic drill, but the batteries gave up the ghost long ago. After a lot of research I purchased another battery from Amazon (http://amzn.to/15YbOdp). This batter has been great, but it is $30 on its own. After completing a recent project, I realized I needed another drill and figured another battery couldn't hurt. When I saw this item for $50 with 2 batteries I figured I couldn't go wrong.

I was almost correct. The drill is pretty weak as expected, but it covers all of my needs. My only gripe, and the reason for my 4 star rating, is that the two included batteries are far lower capacity than the one I purchased before. That is expected given the price, but combined they weight about the same as my other battery. While I initiall thought this was a great deal I am still happy to report this is a good deal.

Tap is so brittle, it feels as if it was made of ceramic. Bought two sets from towerhobbies, and broke both taps within two holes. I didn't overtwist, and also used lube. I am experienced in tapping, but never experienced such a shoddy product. STAY AWAY! Buy a better quality tap from mcmaster.
